On Monday, April 30, Melissa Hagan, PhD, MPH, Director, HEOR–Value Evidence Generation, along with Judith Lenhart, PhD, Sr. Director, Global Scientific Communications, Celgene, conducted the parallel session “The Role of RWE in a Value-Based World: Who’s Listening?” Melissa and Judith described the potential use of RWE in various scenarios and provided guidance on how and when RWE should be communicated to different stakeholders including HCPs, patients, payers/formulary decision makers, and regulators.
On Wednesday, May 2, Kristen Quinn, PhD, Sr. Medical Director, and her co-presenter Ilia Ferrusi, PhD, Associate Director, US Health Economics & Outcomes Research, Novartis Oncology, conducted the parallel session “Mind the Gap–Life Cycle Management and HEOR Integration.” The session differentiated successful gap analysis strategies for products in phase 2 or 3 from strategies applicable to approved treatments, with a focus on effectively integrating HEOR data.
On Monday, April 30 and Wednesday, May 2, Justin Sodano, VP, Creative Services, conducted the parallel session “Digital Advances and Publication Planning: Current Practices and Future Directions” with co-presenters Martin Callaghan, Director, Digital Communications and Tom Rees, Communications Director, Oxford PharmaGenesis; Brian Jenkins, Executive Multimedia Editor, Elsevier; and Fran Young, Director, Scientific Publications, Shire Pharmaceuticals. The session explored the role of digital advances and social media in enhancing the educational value of scientific publications.
Peloton Advantage employees Kelly Piechota, Sr. Account Director, Meghan Corsetto, Sr. Account Manager, and Barbara Zeman, Associate Medical Director, along with Mary Kunjappu, Kerry Quinn-Senger (both Associate Directors, Global Scientific Communications), and Mina Patel (Sr. Director, Global Scientific Communications), Alexion Pharmaceuticals, authored the poster presentation “An Assessment of Uniformity Between Publisher and Journal Guidelines for Author Disclosure in Practice,” which was displayed at the Poster Presentation & Reception on Monday, April 30. The authors evaluated consistency between publisher endorsement of and individual journal adherence to ICMJE guidelines.
