Peloton Advantage: 100 Employees Strong and Growing!

July 2018

Peloton Advantage recently celebrated a milestone in July 2018 with the hiring of its 100th employee to join the company’s medical communications experts and address the needs of its expanding client base and industry-leading service offerings.

In May 2005, co-founders Carolyn S. Clark, MBA (President), and Michael J. McLaughlin, MD (Chief Scientific Officer) opened the doors of Peloton Advantage with 9 employees. The journey since 2005 has been one of continued growth and success, with each new team member increasing the strength, force, and momentum of “the peloton”—a cycling term referring to a group of riders who work together as a unit to strive toward a common goal through strategic interaction and teamwork. This shared goal results in a team-based achievement of the company’s mission of providing superior-quality strategic publication planning, content development, and project management support to positively impact the healthcare market and patient treatment. Employee growth is mirrored by the company’s expanded digital and HEOR offerings, as the leadership team ensures that services and products reflect the current landscape and the needs of clients and healthcare consumers.

The 100th-employee milestone is added to Peloton Advantage’s many accomplishments, including recognition as one of the top 50 Fastest Growing Companies in New Jersey by NJBIZ (2008, 2010, 2014, 2015, and 2016); inclusion in Inc. magazine’s “Inc. 5000” (2010, 2014, 2015, and 2016); the New Jersey Business magazine and New Jersey Business & Industry Association’s Awards for Excellence in the Business Expansion category (2010); the New Jersey Excellence Award for Client Service from the American Economic Institute (2016); “Corporate Culture” and “Future 50” awards from SmartCEO magazine (2016); a MarCom Gold Award in the Creative Concepts category (2016); and two Communicator Awards from the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts in the Corporate Identity and Promotional/Branding categories (2016).

Peloton Advantage Sponsors, Exhibits, and Presents at TIPPA 2018

February 2018

Peloton Advantage welcomed The International Publication Planning Association (TIPPA) attendees at its booth on February 5–6, 2018 in San Diego, CA. The theme for TIPPA’s 17th annual meeting was “Strategies to Improve Operations and Compliance in Medical Communications.” Peloton Advantage employees co-presented two sessions. The first, “Best Practices for a Successful Client–Agency Partnership,” was co-presented by Lisa Shupe, Sr. VP, Client Services with George Samman of Pfizer and detailed key performance indicators (KPIs) for clients and agencies to achieve a shared vision through collaboration and dialogue. Examples of KPIs include commitment and adherence to industry and internal client publication practices; superior quality of deliverables and customer service; a proactive approach to overall team/plan management; and regular meetings to review progress, address gaps, and identify improvement areas. The second session, “Issues in Authorship and Ghostwriting,” was co-presented by Maura McGrail, VP, Client Services, with Lisa DeTora of Hofstra University and Lynne Gordon of Theravance Biopharma Inc. Although ICMJE and Good Publication Practice-3 guidelines provide recommendations for authorship in an effort to eliminate ghostwriting and promote accountability, questions still continuously arise regarding authorship due to different interpretations of these recommendations. The presenters discussed the varying academic, agency, and industry perspectives in defining substantial contribution, critical revision, intellectual content, final version, and accountability. They shared best practices for liaising with authors who have requested agency assistance, including conducting kickoff calls during which roles, responsibilities, and expectations are defined and ensuring authors provide critical review and feedback of draft manuscripts by posing specific questions to authors and also challenging them to act as a “peer reviewer” of their own manuscript.

Peloton Advantage is proud to be a Silver Level sponsor of TIPPA.

EchelonBC Attends the Marcus Evans Summit

May 2013

Echelon Brand Communications attended the 2013 PharmaMarketing and PharmaSales Summit (May 8–10, Palm Beach, FL), a global forum enabling business decision-makers to meet and discuss issues, strategies, and solutions. Justin Sodano of Echelon Brand Communications offered valuable insights to Marcus Evan attendees regarding the challenges that pharmaceutical marketers currently face. He discussed the need for the right mix of promotional initiatives, strategies to increase promotional effectiveness, and tips on market landscaping. In the current health care arena, pharmaceutical companies are under increasing pressure from physicians and federal guidelines regarding the methods used by their sales forces to communicate medical and marketing information. A new communication model based on scientific expertise, evidence-based medicine, and creative, engaging content is emerging, and sales forces need specialized tools and training to gain access to their customers. Echelon Brand Communications specializes in these high-impact communication tools to enable sales professionals to engage health care providers and payers with authority. Echelon Brand Communications was grateful to be able to showcase the company’s creativity, medical expertise, and innovation to Marcus Evans attendees.
